Innocence

The tear soaked family
turned and glared at the child
who wiggled and giggled his way
in front of the coffin
Never once dropping his brave smile
As if he alone
Understood the divine comedy
      in a peaceful death

He waved goodbye to the
      graveyard,
strode into the sunshine
Completely ignoring
      the tides of sadness

(If only innocence lasts forever.)
