Hard Questions

Ancient hands etched hard questions
Upon baked tortoise shells with mirth,
(On the infinity of love, through divinations.)

The sage was acclimated to mute spirits of Earth;
Queries were left unanswered for eternities,
(Oracle bones accumulated, beside the hearth.)

Now deciphered pieces of mystic history
the auguries filled me with wonder,
(Heart heavy, with thoughts of calamity)

Tracing the lines with my fingers,
My doubts mirrored in the artifacts;
(I understand, my dear ancestors.)

AFK

Meditating on the
meaning of zero

I stumbled upon
a John Lennon
and Imagine-d
with him

A whole new world
(without Disney)

This modern globe

A barren land
      without any
inspiration

So
we laughed

And escaped samsara.

Strife

Waking up to another dream
Walking backwards
on the wheel of time

Listening to the sunshine
whilst secretly making love
with the shade

Blending conspiracy theories
into a calorie free
religion

I smile the smile
walk the walk
and truly forget the
propaganda of freedom

As I stride into yet another heresy

Ocean

The cherry lit up the night
as I took an eternal drag
puffing out angelic clouds
and I stared into the distance
one last time

The siren song of ocean breeze
grazed against the cresting waves
And seagulls
sang

I can taste the salt
on my lips
as I gathered my will
and inched into Poseidon’s lair

(The waiting arms
of empty sea
beckons)

Wine and Dine

I’m side stepping, stepping, stepping
one step ahead

going down the stairs
of the double helix

Unzipping the file
that codes the universe

Break the only universal law

To peer into the void
with curious
      ego-less eyes

Dive in

Ashtray Mind

Yet another thought
dropped into yet another mind

Like an extra cigarette
into an overflowing ashtray

Thousands upon thousands of emotions
piled upon one another

To make a colorful (not grey)
Pixilated universe.

Yes, Brother, I tell you
The dream world is real.

Untitled 4

I drank from a purple pool
      sweet and metallic
      (filled with inspiration)

Fueling my creativity…

Yet these pills, blotters, smoke and syringes
poison the mind

I’m learning to write again
(as if with my left hand)

And the fear of a blank page
is engulfing me

One Year

The poet sharpened his words:

Shaped movements into dance

sounds into music.

Yet no matter how deliberately
            beautiful his words are

They could not surpass my love for you.

Table

My table

      is

            Eating me

That’s

            why

(my)
      words are
                        squiggly.

Beach

Sand dug into my nails
as I dug my way to the beach

(LAND!)

Away from an ocean
of distorted dreams and illusions

Red and purple in color

I turned and saw
      friends testing the water

tiptoeing and some

      some even dared to (swim(!))

I almost drowned

Yet how could I disturb
      the bravery of swimmers?

Moo

A magnificent tear
magnified the stars
and the pains on his face
As he fed the prettiest rose
      to a cow

Watching teeth turn flower to mulch
Like the girl’s heels on his heart

The cow absentmindedly chewed
noting only the bitterness and thorns

Oblivious to the woes of man

If only we were all cows.

Innocence

The tear soaked family
turned and glared at the child
who wiggled and giggled his way
in front of the coffin
Never once dropping his brave smile
As if he alone
Understood the divine comedy
      in a peaceful death

He waved goodbye to the
      graveyard,
strode into the sunshine
Completely ignoring
      the tides of sadness

(If only innocence lasts forever.)

A Farmer’s Nirvana

A farmer worked his field
      silently
      looked up
and finally understood the
            sunrises
            sunsets
And ran into his shack
      screaming gleefully
      sharpened his pitchfork
then ditched his day job

So he, the farmer-poet
etched the landscape on the land
      circles amongst circles
He understands!

He drowned in his own
      personal joy
      choked on his sweat
      and dyed his hair grey;
Plucked a rose for his wife
      and called it a day.

Insanity

I walked
      from Texas to California

A long and tedious walk

      men said I was insane
      for doing the impossible

But

      I enjoyed the sunshine
      and the beating sun

So much more

than the dryness in my throat
      when the world
      forces me to swallow
      my own ideas
